Job Overview/Summary:

IRC is currently engaged in a project to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Management system across Finance, Supply Chain and Grants Management functions in all IRC locations. This project will retire a number of existing systems, bringing them in to a cloud based Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment.

The IT department supports the organization's work by providing reliable and scalable applications and infrastructure of the IRC's offices in the US and around the world. An integral component of this effort is ensuring users have the knowledge and training needed to utilize our business systems effectively.

The IT Department is part of the IRC's Operations and Strategy Unit and supports the organization's work by providing reliable and scalable applications and infrastructure of the IRC's offices in the US and around the world. An integral component of this effort is ensuring users have the knowledge and training needed to utilize our business systems effectively.

The purpose of the role:

The IT department supports the organization's work by providing reliable and scalable applications and infrastructure of the IRC's offices in the US and around the world. An integral component of this effort is the implementation of an ERP solution, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations.

The ERP Agile Scrum Master will work closely with the Business Systems Manager, Project Manager and ERP project team to support configuration, development, delivery and rollout of the IRC's new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations). A key aspect of this role will include guiding the various teams through the Agile approach of an ERP implementation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and coaching the ERP Project Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to meet project and business needs.
  • Coaching both the Project Management Team and the ERP Project team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Identify and address impediments that block the team's ability to work in an Agile way.
  • Building a trusting environment where problems are proactively solved.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving. transparency and information dissemination.
  • Supporting and educating the Business System Manager, especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog.

Requirements:

  • First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM).
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for 3-5 years for a software development team.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc).
  • The ability to distinguish between what "is Scrum" what is "not Scrum"
  • Experience with full lifecycle ERP implementations for company-wide rollouts.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate and build effective working relationships across a diverse groups of people and departments.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations (specifically).
  • Second or Third level Scrum Master certification (PSM II, PSM III, CSP, CTC).
  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team.
  • Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc).
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self study, etc.
  • Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc).
  • Experience with Agile planning applications such as Jira.
  • Previous experience as a collaborative leader.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Working Environment

  • Standard office working environment
  • International travel as needed
