Job Overview / Summary (What and Why):

The Leadership Gifts Associate is responsible for the administrative, operational, and editorial support key to reaching the Leadership Gifts team's ambitious fundraising goals; aiding in the retention and upgrading of current major donors; and identifying and cultivating the most promising prospects.

Major Responsibilities:

1 Provide administrative support to the Senior Director, Leadership Gifts including but not limited to printing; developing and formatting organizational charts; attending meetings and notetaking; preparing agendas, reserving rooms and setting up presentation materials; and coordinating travel arrangements. Maintain privacy and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and management information. 2 Provide portfolio assistance to the Senior Director, Leadership Gifts including donor meeting preparation and scheduling, drafting acknowledgements for gifts from high capacity donors, assisting with mailings, formatting and proofing of proposals and correspondence and recording donor activities and information in SalesForce. 3 Provide administrative support to the broader Leadership Gifts team relating to recruiting and orientating new employees, portfolio allocations, coordinating travel arrangements, content management and information sharing. 4 Act as Leadership Gifts liaison with the President's Office to facilitate leadership level communication with select major donors and prospects, including emergency communication, and to share with Leadership Gifts the movements and calendar of the President/CEO. 5 Support special projects and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Associate Director, Leadership Gifts

Position directly supervises: N/A

Indirect Reporting: Senior Director, Leadership Gifts

Other Internal and/or external contacts (describe the nature of departments or groups the position influences or requires support from to accomplish objectives):

Internal: President's office, Finance, GPP colleagues.

External: IRC donors and prospects, Board and Overseers.

Impact of work: Contributes to the IRC's ability to effectively and efficiently acquire, retain, and upgrade Leadership Gifts level donors by directly supporting a variety of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.

Job Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience: Previous work (or internship) experience in an office setting. Experience working in a non-profit development department and/or interest in humanitarian work preferred.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Minimum:

  • Solid Microsoft Office and database management skills;
  • Ability to work accurately and productively in a fast-paced environment and respond/adapt to shifting priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to accurately follow directions;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently;
  • Commitment to respect and maintain confidentiality of donor information.

Preferred:

  • Experience with SalesForce or other donor database management system.

Working Environment (Optional): Standard office work environment.
