Job Overview/Summary:
As part of the newly formed Project Management Team in GPP, the position will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance on the achievement of private and public sector fundraising strategic objectives, through a portfolio of projects. Providing Project Management subject matter expertise across GPP, and building Project Management capacity across the department.
Although, ultimately, the position will cover a broad range of projects within GPP, initially this position will prioritize and assume full responsibility for all projects within the Development team.
The Development Team is responsible for fundraising major gifts ($10K plus) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, as well as securing legacy gifts from individual donors, working with the IRC volunteer Board and Overseers, and hosting the Rescue Dinner, a signature fundraising event that raises over $10 million annually. The Development team has been very successful, with the team goal increasing 20% year over year, and yet successfully reaching these ambitious targets. The role of Project Manager will be prioritized to the Development team and will be responsible for helping the team move forward key projects and initiatives vital to the team's continued success.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ability to apply proven project management framework throughout project life cycle, including assigning responsibility and ownership of project components, setting milestones for the completion of major tasks; breaking a complex project into manageable parts; organizing and sequencing tasks; managing cost, performance and stakeholder expectations; developing a project plan.
- Personally drive project delivery and willingness to problem solve issues and actively remove obstacles to the completion of a project, including applying a "roll up the sleeves and fix it" attitude when necessary.
- Closely manage progress against objectives, including highlighting roadblocks, managing the work-streams of others on the team, and driving full-team problem solving as required.
- Effectively communicate the progress of projects across all stakeholders, and ability to manage across Development's reporting structure.
- Adopt a learning mindset and take personal responsibility for continuous performance improvement, and for supporting the ongoing growth and success of the Development team against its broader objectives.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree or higher
Work Experience: At least 3 years in a project management role. Interest in non-profit fundraising, humanitarian aid and/or international development preferred.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
· Knowledge of and proven ability to apply project management processes, frameworks and best practices;
· High level of comfort with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
· Excellent attention to detail;
· Strong listening skills and the ability to accurately follow directions;
· Good interpersonal skills;
· SalesForce experience is preferred.
· Solid data entry skills.
Language Skills: English (fluent)
Certificates or Licenses: PMP Certification or equivalent
