Job Description

Background Refugee.Info is an accessible and responsive platform that facilitates information dissemination and exchange between humanitarian actors and crisis-affected populations. Initially deployed in the Greek islands of Lesvos and Kos in 2015, the project was designed to complement traditional human rights protection programming with the overarching outcome of increasing the safety of displaced men, women and children. In partnership with Mercy Corps and PeaceGeeks, the IRC is now expanding the Refugee.Info platform and communication model to new contexts under the name Signpost. Global expansion and technical support for the Signpost project is managed by a HQ-based team that sits within the Emergency Unit.

Scope of Work: The HQ-based Signpost team is seeking an experienced, financially literate Grants Manager to provide budgeting, financial management and general operational support for a 10-12 week period. The position will report to the Senior Project Coordinator for Refugee.Info and will ideally be based in New York. Remote working arrangements may be considered provided that this does not hinder the ability to effectively process expenses. The Grants/Finance manager must be willing to support some administrative functions such as processing TERs and other expenses, handling contracts, and maintaining grant files.

Specific Tasks and Deliverables:

  • Produce monthly BvA reports to track spending against three open Signpost/Refugee.Info grants
  • Work with Finance staff in HQ and Belgrade to prepare final financial reports for four grants and an interim financial report for one grant
  • Assist the project team in revising/producing operating budgets for all ongoing/new grants and support budget reforecast for FY18
  • Support proposal and budget development for any new funding opportunities that arise
  • In coordination with Emergency Unit support staff, process payments and expenses and monitor all Signpost/Refugee.Info-related grant codes to determine necessary accounting recodes/revisions
  • At the direction of the Sr. Project Coordinator and IPP, draft narrative reports, presentations, and other donor-facing/communications materials
  • In coordination with the Sr. Project Coordinator, triage and respond to information requests from IPP, partner organizations, field offices and external parties
  • Handle administrative tasks such as review and execution of service contracts and maintaining grant files and tracking tools

Qualifications Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with remotely located colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to draft reports and basic communications materials
  • Knowledge of financial reporting software and experience with SUN preferred; familiarity with OTIS and IRC finance systems and processes in both HQ and field offices ideal
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including strong knowledge of Excel
