BACKGROUND
Over the past 80 years, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has developed unparalleled expertise in responding to emergencies and helping uprooted communities to rebuild. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to people affected by conflict or disaster. The IRC, with headquarters in New York and London, is on the ground in more than 40 countries, providing emergency relief, relocating refugees and rebuilding lives in the wake of disaster. Through 29 cities across the United States, the IRC also helps refugees resettle and become self-sufficient.
IRC Germany with offices in Bonn and Berlin was established in 2016 is part of the IRC global network.
The pre-award team of our global Awards Management Unit is looking for four full-time ( 40 hours per week ) Program Development Advisors (one each with a regional focus on the Middle East, East Africa, Asia and West Africa) to be based in Germany.
Your Responsiblities
You will support the respective regional office and the respective country offices in project development and statutory fundraising. You are responsible for the project management of the proposal development process and for the on-time submission of high-quality grant applications to a number of international institutional donors. In doing so, you work closely with the colleagues in the field and the relevant technical units of the global organization as well as, if necessary, local implementation partners. Specifically, you can expect the following tasks:
· You develop business development plans for your region and research appropriate funding opportunities
· You train field colleagues and professional staff on donor requirements and develop appropriate training materials and work templates
· You coordinate the creation of concept notes and full proposals, create work packages and responsibilities within multi-sectoral teams and ensure the completeness, quality and timely submission of all documents
· If required, you will write non-technical parts of proposals or corresponding text modules, support the development of budgets and check their compliance with donor guidelines
· You are the central interface to the relevant staff in the global organizational network and local implementation partners
Your Profile
· You completed a university degree, ideally in an area relevant for our work, or otherwise demonstrate relevant knowledge
· You have several years of professional experience in project development and drafting of concept notes and project proposals in an NGO or an international organization, with particular experience with DFID, ECHO, USAID, Sida, SDC, Irish Aid , AA, BMZ etc.
· You have excellent communications skills and enjoy coordinating and working in dynamic, intercultural teams across multiple locations and time zones
· You think strategically and work creatively, and are solutions-oriented with great attention to detail
· You keep your sense of humor even when faced with multiple competing deadlines
· For the regions of the Middle East, East Africa and Asia: You speak and write English fluently and ideally also possess German language skills ; For the region West Afrika: You speak and write English fluently and possess a high level of proficiency in French
· You enjoy regular trips to the project countries of your region.
