The Digital Communications Officer will report to CORE’s deputy director and work in coordination with other CORE staff to advance CORE’s programmatic objectives. This position will manage strategic development of and stakeholder engagement with CORE’s digital tools and resources. S/he will also provide technical support for a refugee-facing SMS/MMS communications program and contribute to the creation of multimedia content for dissemination through these channels.
Major Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Deputy Director of CORE to develop and implement an integrated communications and engagement strategy promoting CORE’s digital channels and resources;
- Oversee and manage the development and maintenance of CORE’s digital channels, including additional content and features on the*Settle In* app;
- Facilitate in-person and virtual trainings that build the capacity of resettlement staff and other stakeholders to integrate CORE’s digital tools and resources into CO delivery;
- Develop, write, and support enhancement of digital content available across CORE’s major digital platforms;
- As needed, revise existing refugee communication toolkit and maintain standard operating procedures to be up-to-date with funder guidelines;
- Plan and develop scopes of works with vendors and manage project implementation for enhancement of CORE’s digital tools, as necessary;
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with various stakeholders and CORE staff on CORE’s digital initiatives and resources;
- Perform administrative duties related to digital channels, including backstopping Digital Content Manager on Wordpress backend management, as needed.
- Support implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for CORE’s digital channels;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree in communications, digital media, library science, social science, international development or related field preferred;
Minimum of 4 years work experience in program management or digital media (website, mobile, integrated campaigns) in nonprofit environment preferred;
Experience developing digital strategies, programs and tools, including the use of open source software, WordPress websites, digital analytic tools, SMS program design and management, mobile app development, or other web-based multimedia platforms;
Experience in capacity building and digital literacy with non-native English speakers a plus;
Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate highly technological concepts and functions to non-IT personnel; the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners, facilitate trainings and/or workshops, and present at professional meetings;
Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs preferred;
Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
Strong commitment to social service or humanitarian assistance programs and willingness to adhere to IRC’s code of conduct; and
Detail orientated and self-directed.
