Greece: Roving Psychologist - Athens (National Contract - EU Citizens only)

JOB TITLE: Roving Psychologist

LOCATION: Athens

DURATION: 6 months

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct/participate in Mental Health, and Psychosocial needs assessment among the affected populations. This will include assessments consistent with IASC guidelines and Mental Health Psychosocial WHO assessment toolkit, at different stages of program planning and implementation.

· Establish a safe space to conduct private and confidential conversations acceptable to those on the site and safely accessible by children, adolescents and women.

· Respond to the clients identified needs by conducting specific psychosocial individual level interventions/ activities (adapted and appropriate to each one’s specific needs and capacities) and lead psycho-educational groups, especially but not exclusively with UAM, in areas of stress management, relaxation, conflict resolution, etc.

· Collaboratively set up, monitor and develop community based Psychosocial (PSS) activities with the MHPSS Manager and in collaboration with the other psychologists and community mobilisers /cultural mediators.

· Collaboratively work with the CP staff to design and implement ideas for psychosocial programs with UAM.

· Promote community-based PSS initiatives such as group and community-oriented discussions, design and provide psycho-education on different relevant topics.

· Conduct awareness raising campaigns and distribute IEC material on common stress reactions, psychosocial well-being, and positive coping mechanisms collaboratively with the refugee population and other partners.

· Provide psycho-education/family counseling sessions to caretakers and family members of children and adolescents when needed.

· In coordination with the responsible caseworkers, refer children, adolescents and women to other health professionals whenever necessary.

· Join interagency coordination mechanisms for the provision of mental health and psychosocial support and share relevant information.

· Referral Mapping: Work with local partners and the MHPSS team to map MHPSS service providers and other services relevant to the target population in the intervention region. Create document listing relevant services and resources. Facilitate dissemination of information about existing services and supports to strengthen referral networks, both through written output and development of referral workshops for regional service providers.

· Answer to the identified needs, by providing direct psychosocial support and refer internally and externally as needed, respecting confidentiality and the rights of the clients providing direct psychosocial support if necessary.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

· Complete intake assessments, evaluations, care plans, therapeutical recommendations, reviews, and other documentation as necessary.

· Developing and identifying necessary measuring tools to assess success in accordance to indicators of program.

· Implementing and coordinating measurement tools in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Training/education/experience/physical demands required; provide 6-8 requirements)

· The qualified candidate must be a psychologist with extensive psychosocial programming experience with 5 + years’ experience in setting up or implementing psychosocial programs for children, adolescents and women at national and international levels.

· Knowledge of and experience in using established inter-agency standards and guidelines in MHPSS and child protection, such as the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Inter-agency Guidelines on Separated and Unaccompanied Children, Safe Healing and Learning Spaces Handbook and IASC Guidelines in Emergencies.

· Significant experience in working in child protection in emergencies, particularly on Child Friendly Spaces and psychosocial programs.

· Knowledge in trauma and experience in working with traumatized populations and providing support to them.

· Knowledge of tools for assessment of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing of Children and Adults in the Context of Humanitarian Emergencies.

· Experience in monitoring and evaluation of psychosocial programs and feeding learning into program design.

· Experience working on the inclusion of hard to reach groups of children and adolescents.

· Experience of working in camp contexts.

· Cultural awareness and sensitivity.

· Self-awareness and proven ability to operate successfully in different cultural environments

· An excellent command of verbal and written English.

· Arabic Language is great advantage.
