The Supporter Marketing team, a unit within the Revenue department, is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel program to ensure continued revenue growth via the retention, cultivation and upgrading of IRC supporters. Through digital advertising, email, direct mail, telemarketing and peer-to-peer fundraising, the unit is committed to building a strong base of high value, mass-market supporters.

Job Overview / Summary:

The Senior Officer, Supporter Marketing oversees all aspects of the IRC's email and SMS marketing and fundraising programs, including: strategy, tactical implementation, deployment, analysis and optimization. S/he plays a lead role on the Supporter Marketing team, helping to define, implement and measure the success of a multi-channel digital fundraising and marketing strategy aimed at growing the online Constituent / donor base and overall online engagement and revenue.

Major Responsibilities:

1 Develop and implement email and mobile strategies to maximize supporter and subscriber file growth, engagement, and retention, as well as overall program return on investment; 2 Oversee the on-time development of all fundraising appeals, newsletters, cultivation updates, event invitations and other email and SMS messages from conceptualization to execution to evaluation; 3 Lead messaging and design colleagues in defining the creative strategies and tactics for email campaigns; produce detailed creative and concept briefs as necessary; 4 Partner with key colleagues across teams and departments to ensure digital campaigns align and integrate with other fundraising channels, communications plans, cause marketing efforts and advocacy engagement; 5 Create and manage cross-channel campaign timelines, calendars and other project tools to help facilitate success of cross-functional teams; 6 Analyze campaign, monthly and quarterly reports to identify channel insights and help the Supporter Marketing team find optimization tactics and adjustments to strategy; 7 Monitor and improve email database hygiene to maintain and increase deliverability rates; 8 Stay current on new technologies and techniques to identify opportunities and implement new approaches to improve online cultivation efforts in a rapidly evolving landscape; 9 Lead or participate in special projects as requested by the Director, Digital Fundraising and Marketing.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education

Work Experience:

Minimum: 6-8 years of digital fundraising and marketing experience in a nonprofit or agency setting

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Minimum:

  • Proven experience with customer relationship management (CRM) databases, web-based content management systems (CMS), SMS platforms and email service providers (ESPs); specific familiarity with Salesforce, Silverpop, Mobile Commons, PIDI and Raiser's Edge a great plus
  • Google Analytics and basic HTML experience preferred;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: the proven ability to communicate and liaise effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, vendors, and consultants;
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills: the ability to plan for and manage multiple projects while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with strict deadlines;
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets);
  • Proven writing and editing skills;
  • Flexible work attitude: ability to work productively and independently as well as in a team within a collaborative, demanding environment
